Married to the supportive Lansana, Salamatu is not only the mother to her own four children—Fransal, Crystal, Crystabel, and Gabriel—but also a maternal figure to countless children within our community. Her nurturing spirit transcends her own family, embracing every young life with the warmth of maternal love and the light of guidance.

Salamatu is the wellspring from which the inspiration for most of our projects flows. Her innovative mind and empathetic soul have birthed initiatives that have uplifted the lives of many, planting seeds of hope and growth in our community’s fertile ground. Her presence is a beacon that guides us, and her tireless efforts continue to fuel the engine of our mission.

Alimamy Kamara is a distinguished figure within the Village Community Development (VCD), serving diligently on the Board of Directors. His leadership extends into the realm of education as the principal of a prominent school in Allen Town, where his commitment to nurturing young minds is evident in the school’s thriving atmosphere.

Alimamy’s life is rich with the joys of family and passion. As a dedicated husband and father, he takes immense pride in guiding his children, Keneth and Borisa, along their life’s journey. His love for his family is paralleled by his enthusiasm for football, a fervent supporter of Manchester United, his loyalty to the team mirrors his dedication to our cause.

Beyond his administrative and familial responsibilities, Alimamy is known for his musical talents, which resonate with the harmony of his leadership. Whether it’s a strategic decision in the boardroom or a melody on his instrument, his contributions strike a chord of excellence and inspiration.

His ability to balance the demanding role of an educator, the strategic responsibilities of a board member, the loving duties of a family man, and the creative pursuits of a musician is nothing short of remarkable. Boris Eichenberger has been an important contributor to the Village Community Development (VCD) since its early days about twenty years ago. Originally from Switzerland, Boris has consistently brought fresh perspectives and ideas to our local work.

In his role at VCD, Boris serves as a coach and supporter, providing guidance and advice to our projects and initiatives. He demonstrates his commitment through yearly visits to Sierra Leone, where he engages deeply with our activities, sharing his knowledge and experience. His ongoing involvement has made him a well-regarded figure within our community.

Outside of his professional contributions, Boris is dedicated to his family, including his wife Martina and their children Eliane, Ruven, and Jonas. His personal life reflects the same dedication he shows professionally. An avid participant in endurance sports and IronMan competitions, Boris can often be seen training in the early mornings around Makeni. His discipline in sports reflects his overall dedication in life.

Boris’s time with VCD has been characterized by shared growth and consistent dedication. His work goes beyond advisory duties; he serves as a source of inspiration and a proof of the benefits that cross-cultural collaboration can bring to community development.

Sylvester Sellu is a vital cog in the machinery of Village Community Development (VCD), handling a spectrum of essential administrative tasks with exceptional efficiency and dedication. His role within the organization is multifaceted, ranging from managing crucial IT operations to capturing the essence of our projects through his photography skills.

Based in Freetown, Sylvester balances his professional responsibilities with his role as a family man. He lives with his loving wife and their two children, creating a warm and nurturing home environment. His ability to juggle the demands of work and family life is a testament to his organizational skills and commitment to his responsibilities.

Originally from the serene and beautiful Sherbro Island in the southern part of Sierra Leone, Sylvester brings a unique perspective to VCD. His roots in Bonthe have instilled in him a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within rural communities, an insight that proves invaluable in our work.

Sylvester’s contribution to VCD goes beyond just administrative support; he is the backbone of our day-to-day operations, ensuring that everything runs smoothly. David Alimamy Dumbuya, the newest addition to our team at Village Community Development (VCD), has swiftly become an indispensable part of our mission, especially in spearheading our agriculture projects. Despite his recent introduction to the team, David has displayed an exceptional ability to not only take on responsibilities but also to propel our initiatives forward with fresh vigor and innovative approaches.
