This week marked a significant milestone for our collaborative efforts towards a brighter future, as we were delighted to welcome Tim and Stephanie, representatives from our esteemed international partner, ORA Kinderhilfe. Their five-day visit to Sierra Leone was not only a testament to our shared commitment but also an opportunity to witness the tangible impact of our joint projects on the ground.

Day 1-2: Empowerment Through Education in Makaimba

Our journey began in the vibrant community of Makaimba, where we host a school that serves over 150 children. Tim and Stephanie immersed themselves in the bustling hallways of knowledge, witnessing the eagerness in the eyes of every student. It was a profound experience to see our collective vision of education as a tool for empowerment being realized.

But our mission in Makaimba extends beyond the classroom. With ORA Kinderhilfe’s support, we’ve initiated a local fishing project, ensuring sustainable livelihoods for families. Our visitors were particularly impressed by the community’s dedication and the ripple effect of empowerment this project has created.

Perhaps the most appreciated facilities are the two wells we have constructed, providing clean, accessible water. These wells stand as pillars of health and hygiene for the entire community, a cause close to our hearts and a critical aspect of development.

Day 3: Agricultural Advancements in 3Miles

Next, we ventured to 3Miles, where education and agriculture merge to cultivate growth. The school here is a beacon of hope, nurturing the minds of young scholars. Stephanie and Tim toured the agricultural project, a green expanse where education sows the seeds for a self-sufficient future.

Our partners got their hands dirty — quite literally — as they joined in the agricultural activities, gaining a deeper understanding of the project’s impact on food security and community development.

Day 4-5: Laying Foundations in Makulamba

In Makulamba, the newest bud in our bouquet of projects, the foundations of a school are being laid, signaling the start of a new educational era. Stephanie and Tim’s visit coincided with the initial construction phase, allowing them to be part of this groundbreaking moment.

As we aim to expand the agricultural project here, our guests provided invaluable insights and encouragement. The potential for growth in Makulamba is immense, and with ORA Kinderhilfe by our side, we are confident in the fruition of this endeavor.

Building Capacities and Relationships

Aside from project visits, we conducted training sessions in project management, an exercise that strengthened our strategies and deepened our collaborative ties. Tim and Stephanie brought fresh perspectives and ideas that were eagerly embraced by our team.

Cultural Exchange and Culinary Delights

It wasn’t all work, though. We enjoyed the cultural exchange, indulged in Salone’s delectable cuisine, and basked in the warmth of both the climate and our guests‘ company. The joy of sharing stories over plates of cassava leaves and jollof rice, and the laughter that filled the air, were reminders of the universal language of fellowship.

Gratitude and Anticipation

As we bid farewell to our friends from ORA Kinderhilfe, we felt a renewed sense of gratitude and anticipation. Their visit has reinforced our belief that when we join hands across continents, the dream of a better future isn’t just a vision; it’s a reality in the making.

We look forward to continuing this journey together, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to Tim, Stephanie, and the entire ORA Kinderhilfe team for their unwavering support and solidarity.

Together, we are planting seeds of hope and harvesting change.
